Veneers from just £250 per tooth

Veneers are one of the most in demand cosmetic dental treatments in the UK. They are often used to create new smiles or as part of other cosmetic dental procedures.

Veneers can, depending on the desired effect, be made from either composite or porcelain. Composite veneers are cheaper, but porcelain veneers last longer. Veneers are built to fit over your existing teeth exactly, making them an ideal solution for stains or signs of damage.

Veneers aren’t just for repairing teeth. They are also popular for cosmetic procedures. Veneers can alter the shape of your teeth, allowing you to design your own smile.

Veneers are only fitted onto the teeth that can be seen when you smile – the six uppers and six lowers at the front. For molars and rear teeth, it is more common to use a crown. As you’ve probably guessed, veneers are designed to match the colour of your existing teeth. This shade can’t be changed, so it’s a good idea to undergo whitening treatment beforehand. This allows you to choose a more attractive final shade for your veneers.

What are the benefits of veneers?

Veneers are a subtle and natural-looking option. To most people, they look exactly the same as natural teeth. Not only do they look great, they are also one of the fastest ways to create a new smile. Fitting veneers is much quicker than using an orthodontic treatment such as Invisalign to move teeth. Veneers are a great way to get a natural looking smile. This is because they are colour matched to your existing teeth in order to blend in seamlessly.

More about Veneers

As long as they are properly fitted, there is no danger of veneers ruining your teeth. That said, your dentist will have to remove some of the original tooth to make space for the veneer. A tooth that has been altered in this way will always require a veneer or composite bonding in the future.

Your dentist can remove your veneers whenever you wish, but these teeth will usually need to be restored with a veneer of some kind.

A small part of the existing tooth is extracted and shaped to make a base for the veneer. A composite or porcelain veneer is then made and attached to the tooth, creating a natural looking replacement.

The cost of veneers depends on several factors. Since veneers are only used for the upper and lower six front teeth, you will not need to purchase a veneer for every tooth.

Definitely not! As long as they are used properly, veneers can treat a whole range of dental problems.

What other Options are available?

There are several ways to alter the shape of your teeth:

  • Composite bonding Composite bonding is an alternative treatment for gaps in the teeth (sometimes known as diastema). It can also be used to gently alter the shape of teeth. Composite bonding can usually be performed in a single session, giving immediate results. It also costs significantly less than porcelain.
  • Composite Veneers – Although they are similar to composite bonding, composite veneers have one major difference. They are attached to the front of the teeth and then mixed with extra composite bonding to create the desired effect. Composite veneers have a typical lifespan of five years, making them a mid-term option. Patients often start with composite veneers and then move onto porcelain veneers once they are used to their new smile.
  • Porcelain Veneers – Porcelain veneers are a longer term solution, with a typical lifespan of 15-20 years. They are fitted with a similar technique to composite veneers but using a different material. Porcelain is easier to care for and tends to reflect the light in a more attractive way.
  • Orthodontics Invisalign is the clear choice for invisible orthodontics. It is usually better to alter the position of your existing teeth if possible. This requires less preparation and means it is still your natural teeth. Another advantage of the orthodontic approach is that you can whiten your teeth at any point, and they will all be the same colour.

There’s a lot to consider when choosing your treatment, so we always recommend a “Smile Design” appointment. During this session, you can meet our dental team and tell them what you’re hoping to get out of your treatment. We will talk you through the various options to help you decide which is right for you.
