Case Study Invisalign

Duncan is a Claydon Dental patient. He told us that his teeth bothered him when he talks and smiles. Although not a major issue to Duncan, it remained something that he wished to change if he was able to.

Because of the crowding on Duncan’s teeth, he required the Invisalign Full treatment. His treatment plan was for 24 sets of aligners and it lasted 12 months.

Duncan also had a front tooth on the left side which was smaller than usual. To complement the straightening work we used a tiny amount of composite to build up this tooth. This meant that aesthetically it appeared the same as the tooth on the right side.

We completed Duncan’s treatment with a complimentary teeth-whitening course. The end result was an amazing transformation.

More about Invisalign

Invisalign is a game-changing orthodontic treatment. It uses clear plastic aligners to slowly move your teeth to an aesthetically pleasing position, and one that is better for your oral health.

We begin by using a 3D scanner to scan your teeth. This produces a representation of your current teeth positioning. Invisalign then use this to demonstrate how your teeth could look with the treatment. It provides you with an impressive before and after image of your teeth, so you can make an informed decision as to whether Invisalign is right for you.

If you make the decision to proceed, Invisalign use the 3D model to produce a series of clear plastic aligners that are placed over your teeth. Every two weeks you change them at home. Over time, each set moves your teeth towards their new position.

The end result is a fantastic new smile which you’ll want to show off every day.

The length of Invisalign treatment varies depending on the amount of movement you need to get the smile you wish for.

In the simplest cases, it might need as little as 14 weeks. For major treatments where much more movement is required, it might take up to 18 months.

Once you’ve finished your scan appointment, we can give you a clearer picture of how long Invisalign treatment would last for you, and the number of clear aligners you’d need.

Invisalign’s costs depend on the level of movement your teeth need. Invisalign treatment is available on three different levels:

Invisalign i7

Invisalign i7 is for minor teeth movements. It is entry-level Invisalign and is called i7 as you get just seven sets of clear aligners for the treatment. Prices begin at £1,500, which works out at  £22 per month.

Invisalign Lite

Invisalign Lite is for medium levels of movement in your teeth. The amount of movement required determines the number of sets of clear aligners. So Invisalign Lite uses 14 sets of clear aligners to finish the treatment. Prices begin at £2,950, or £51 per month.

Invisalign Full

Invisalign Full was the major Invisalign treatment initially designed to treat more complex teeth straightening cases. It is bespoke so there is no set number of clear aligners. Therefore you can carry on making adjustments until you are satisfied. Prices begin at £3,350 or £59 per month.

Invisalign is a clever procedure which uses near invisible, clear plastic aligners which fit over your teeth to slowly move them to where you desire.

Every fortnight you swap the clear aligners for the next set. Each set moves your teeth a little more at a time.

It is important to have regular check-ups with your dentist to ensure your treatment is proceeding as it should.

The treatment time Invisalign takes is based on the movement needed. As every case is unique, the best way to establish what’s required is to make use of one of our free consultations.

The free consultation we offer you is your opportunity to meet us and tell us what you wish to change about your teeth, and why you are thinking about Invisalign. You can ask us questions about the cost, the length of Invisalign treatment time, and which Invisalign level may be best for you. Our treatment coordinator is a specialist and over the years has seen hundreds of cases. This experience allows them to give you shrewd advice on the best treatment plan for you.

The appointment where you have your Invisalign scan is stage two in your Invisalign journey. In the appointment we take a virtual impression of your teeth using the latest Invisalign digital scanner. The system then carefully simulates what your teeth could look like if you wish to continue with the Invisalign treatment. It’s great as there’s no need for messy impressions to be made if you proceed.

You’ll walk away from the appointment with amazing 3D before and after pictures of your teeth, as well as a detailed treatment plan to assess.

Invisalign attachments are typically called buttons. These small buttons are attached to your teeth to assist the clear aligners in efficiently moving them. They are not required on every tooth and sometimes not needed at all.

They bear no resemblance to a traditional brace, so there is no need to be concerned. If Invisalign attachments are needed for you, they will be minute and match the colour of your teeth. Therefore most people won’t even notice them.

The term “Invisalign braces” is not an accurate or helpful description. Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that takes away the need for braces. Braces are the established ‘train track’ fittings on the outside of the teeth that you’ll be aware of from the past. It is still a common treatment for teenagers. But, the clear choice for adults is nearly always Invisalign.

Our dental practice is on Rodney Road, in the heart of Cheltenham. There is ample parking around the practice, so it will not be difficult to find a space. We provide a full range of Invisalign treatments. Whatever you need, we’ll have it covered.

Invisalign retainers is just another name for the aligners. The proper term is ‘aligners’ and it describes the clear plastic moulds which go over your teeth. During treatment, you switch them once a fortnight for a new set. Each set gently moves your teeth towards your desired position. So, whether you say aligners or retainers or retainers or aligners, they’ll work the same to create the smile you seek.
