What can be fixed with Composite Bonding

Gaps

Gaps in the teeth (sometimes called diastema) can be easily treated with composite bonding. A composite bonding which matches the colour of your teeth is attached to the teeth on either side of the gap. This is then moulded into shape to create a natural and seamless appearance.

Staining

Sometimes whitening and polishing aren’t enough to remove stains on the teeth. In these cases, composite veneers are a great solution. A thin layer of composite bonding is applied to the surface of the tooth. This is then reshaped and polished until it matches the shape of the existing tooth.

Chips and repairs

Composite bonding is an effective alternative to a crown or a veneer when teeth are damaged or chipped. In these cases, composite bonding acts like a filling to plug any gaps. Composite bonding can also be used to fill in chips on the edges of the teeth, where it is colour matched to fit in with the existing teeth.

More about Composite Bonding

Prices for composite bonding start from just £125 for minor repairs and are typically around £250 per tooth for composite veneers.

As long as it is properly cared for, composite bonding has a typical lifespan of around five years. We recommend that composite bonding patients undergo a polishing treatment once a year to keep everything looking brand new.

As you can probably guess, composite bonding involves attaching a composite material to your teeth or tooth. This is shaped and coloured to fit in seamlessly with the rest of your teeth.

One of the big advantages of composite bonding is that the process is almost entirely non-invasive. Usually only a tiny part of your natural tooth has to be extracted, keeping damage to a minimum.

Composite bonding is not bad for your teeth and is in fact the same material used when you have a white filling. The composite can be removed at any time in the future should you need it to be, leaving the original tooth as before.

Not at all. In fact, composite bonding uses the same material as a standard white filling. You can have the composite removed whenever you wish, restoring the tooth to its prior condition.

Yes, composite bonding is cheaper than porcelain veneers. The process and material is much less expensive, and treatment typically takes less time to administer.

Composite bonding is good for your teeth If you have a cavity that needs a composite filling, or if your teeth are cracked or chipped. It restores your teeth to their original shape, preventing any further damage or decay.

We always advise patients to undergo a course of teeth whitening before receiving composite bonding. This is because composite bonding can’t be whitened once it is in place. We recommend a whitening treatment followed by a two-week wait. This gives your teeth time to find their natural white colour before we match the composite bonding to their shade.

You certainly can. Your dentist can remove composite bonding whenever you wish.
